When Only God Understands

Hannah (mother of Samuel) was accused as a drunken woman because her prayer is a very deep kind of prayer that even Eli, the priest was not able to comprehend (Hannah was speaking in her heart; only her lips moved, and her voice was not heard. - 1 Samuel 1:12-13).
Prayer is a personal and intimate way in which we give God full access of our hearts. It is a distinct manner of vulnerability that spectators will not understand. It is experiential, personalized, unrestrained and earnestly done - that only God can recognize.
Prayer is not a “wish-granting opportunity”. It is a first-hand communication of the content of our hearts. It is a gift to talk, to vent, to tell anything to Him.
In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah’s prayer is full of her anxiety and vexation. Though the plea is not yet answered, after praying, her was face no longer sad… for she knew that she was heard and remembered.
A deep prayer is an exclusive and intimate time of us and God. But we must remember that it is impossible to have intimacy without a profound relationship with Him.
“Trying to describe what I do in prayer would be like telling the world how I make love to my wife.”- J.I Packer
