To the Christian who loves working out...
Are you just as ready to wake up early for your Bible as you are for your morning workout? Are you as strict with your prayer time as you are with your workout schedule? Do you talk about what God is doing in your life as much as you talk about your new PRs? Do you want to please God as much as you want to please the people watching you? Are you as ready to give up things for God as you are to give them up for your fitness goals?
If Jesus Christ isn't the foundation of your health, what are you truly standing on?
It’s easy to get obsessed with the workout and the trends. These things are good, but they aren't everything. If Jesus Christ isn't the foundation of your health, what are you truly standing on? A body that will eventually fade? A strength that is only temporary? Physical strength eventually fails. So, we have to decide where our worth really comes from.
As a Christian who loves working out, I don’t want fitness to be my identity. I don't want to be "the fit person" who happens to be a Christian. I want to be a Christian who stewards the body He gave me. Fitness should be an act of stewardship, an expression of obedience, and a daily "thank you" for the gift of life. I will train my body with everything I have, but I will build my life—my hope, my worth, and my future—on my solid rock — Jesus Christ.
Stop chasing fading goals. Start training for eternal glory.
