A kid on a tiny blue planet

“And to all of you down there on Earth and around Earth, we love you from the moon. We will see you on the other side.” - Victor Glover, Artemis II Pilot
With wars going on, prices going up, and all the bad news happening in our country and the world... This space trip feels like a gift. It’s like a deep breath of relief. It reminds me that beauty and wonder are still there. People build rockets, fly to the moon, and look back at our planet. We can dream big and reach it! And it hits me something great: watching and seeing pictures all over the internet makes me realize how small we are... but also how special our lives are.
The universe is so huge! About 2 trillion galaxies, each with 100–400 billion stars (not sure if that’s accurate, I just searched it). And here we are, on one small planet called Earth - one tiny blue ball in the Milky Way. Breathing, moving, loving, crying, laughing, and reading this.
Maybe God put life on other worlds. That would be cool! They say it would take 2.5 million years to find out (if you travel at the speed of light). I would honestly love to know if we’re not alone in this huge universe. But for now, here on Earth, this small rock tilted just right at 23.5, there is life, and I’m part of it. Isn’t that crazy? It really leaves me in awe. Like... who am I, just a kid, to be part of something this big?
This realization points to something even better: we are chosen by Him (yes, me and you!).
The same God who spun the stars and set Earth's tilt knows me and you. He made our hearts beat. He sees the hard stuff like wars we can't stop and worries that keep us up. But He who holds the planet in its orbit is in control. He cares about me. He's got me.. and you too!
I love how space shows God’s handiwork. The astronauts travel out there to the moon, take photos of Earth like a marble, and play songs up there. They even talk to us from space! We went from caves to the cosmos because God made us smart and brave. I love that He lets His people explore what He made out there!
So as I end this, and as you finish reading... take a quiet minute. Play “So Will I (100 Billion X)” by Hillsong Worship. Let the words sink in: God made it all... and calls it good. Including you. I love life! I love Earth! I love God most of all!
